A DOI, or Digital Object Identifier, is a string of numbers, letters, and symbols used to track an object persistently. It provides the object with a permanent web address (URL). Even if a URL changes, the DOI stays the same and will enable you to find the article.
What if you need to find the DOI?
A DOI is usually printed with the article itself, either on the first page below the title, or sometimes in the header or footer. Some online databases, such as EBSCO, include the DOI in their citations.
If the DOI isn't included in the article, then you can look it up on the website https://www.crossref.org/guestquery/ by searching for the author's surname and the title of the article.
