There are a lot of answers to this question. But one way to approach it, especially if you do not know the exact date, is to use the database Newsbank. Newsbank has various newspapers from across Alaska that can be searched online. Alaska Dispatch News goes as far back as 1985. Once you find the exact date, you could even search through appropriate microfilm of various Anchorage newspapers that might have also covered the event.

To search Newsbank, go to "Databases" on the Library's main page, then search for Newsbank. On Newsbank's main page, find where it says "USA - Alaska." This will lead you to their search page, where you can search through either all the newspapers that are available online, or narrow it down to just one.
